Contact (Maternity Cover) About the role The University of Birmingham is seeking an organised and compassionate Assistant Anatomy Administrator (Bequeathal) to support the Human Anatomy Unit within the College of Medicine and Health. This is a fixed-term maternity cover position and a unique opportunity to contribute to the University's body donation programme, a vital service that supports the education of future healthcare professionals and advances anatomical teaching and training. Working within a specialist professional and technical services team, you will provide administrative support for the body donation programme and act as a key point of contact for donors, next of kin, executors, healthcare professionals, undertakers and regulatory organisations. You will help ensure that all aspects of the programme are delivered professionally, sensitively and in line with legislative requirements and best practice. The role includes maintaining accurate records, responding to enquiries, supporting programme administration and contributing to the smooth operation of the Human Anatomy Unit. You will play an important role in delivering a service that requires professionalism, empathy and attention to detail at every stage. The Human Anatomy Unit currently operates from the Medical School and will relocate to the new Birmingham Centre for Anatomy, Surgical and Clinical Skills at the Birmingham Health Innovation Campus in 2027. Due to the nature of the role, opportunities for remote working are limited. About you You will have previous administrative experience and excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise tasks effectively. You will be comfortable working independently while also contributing positively to a collaborative team environment. You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build positive relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Experience of handling sensitive or confidential information with discretion and professionalism is essential. You should possess good IT skills and experience of maintaining accurate records and working with databases or administrative systems. A keen eye for detail, a commitment to excellent customer service and the ability to adapt to changing priorities will be important for success in this role. Most importantly, you will be empathetic, professional and respectful, with the confidence to support a service that works closely with individuals and families making a significant contribution to medical education through body donation.
