at the heart of the University, offering an exciting opportunity to shape governance practice, support effective decision-making and contribute to the delivery of the University’s Aberdeen 2040 ambitions. Reporting to the Chief Governance Officer & University Secretary, you will provide proactive leadership for the delivery of high-quality, professional and sector-leading governance services.  Working closely with University leaders, governors and governance committee members, you will drive continuous improvement in governance culture, policies and processes, while ensuring the University remains aligned with legislative, regulatory and sector expectations. Leading a professional team of governance specialists, you will act as a trusted adviser on governance matters, support governing body and committee effectiveness, oversee governance enhancement initiatives and help strengthen relationships across the University’s governance and leadership structures. You will play a key role in promoting accountability, transparency and good governance across the University. We are seeking an experienced leader with a strong track record of governance leadership within a complex environment and a broad understanding of governance as it relates to the Scottish higher education sector. You will possess excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, the credibility to influence and advise at the highest levels, and the ability to build productive relationships across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You will bring strategic insight, sound judgement and a commitment to promoting the highest standards of integrity, professionalism and continuous improvement. The salary for this post will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 9 salary scale, £69,488 to £78,188 per annum and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience. The candidate appointed to this post is expected to be based in the Northeast of Scotland but may be eligible for homeworking on an occasional or regular basis.  In recognition of the seniority and importance of this role, you will normally be expected to work on campus four days per week, with a minimum requirement of three days per week. Should you require a visa to undertake employment in the UK you will be required to fulfil the minimum points criteria to be granted a Certificate of Sponsorship under the requirements of the Skilled Worker visa.
