Equity and social inclusion have always been our driving principles, and it's what makes the University so unique. ...
Our organisation is distinctive, both in its eclectic and diverse community of students and staff, and also for its historical role in serving some of London’s most deprived boroughs. Everything we do is underpinned by our philosophy that an individual should have the opportunity to transform their life through the power of education. Equipping our students with the tools for their future is at the heart of our academic offering. We pride ourselves on providing our students with access to a wealth of opportunities and professions. Our graduates benefit personally, but also contribute their unique perspectives to society, culture, public service and the economy in all areas of London, the UK and around the world. ABOUT THE POSTEducated to degree level or equivalent, the successful applicant will have experience managing laboratory spaces and equipment and providing technical support for research in a higher education or comparable research setting. Ideally, they will have worked as a research assistant or in a similar research support role within an established psychology laboratory, supporting experimental research and working closely with researchers and students. This role is central to supporting high-quality teaching, research, and the student experience within Psychology. Laboratory Management: Maintain well-organised, accessible, and reliable laboratory spaces, equipment, and computing resources. Digital and Technical Expertise: Support specialist research equipment and software, including experiment programming, equipment setup, and troubleshooting. Practical proficiency in Python, MATLAB, and R is required, alongside experience using MNE-Python, PsychoPy, and Pavlovia. Hands-on experience with Brain Products EEG systems, Tobii eye-tracking systems, BIOPAC systems, and NeuroConn tDCS equipment is desirable. Compliance and Policy: Ensure laboratory activities comply with relevant health and safety requirements, research ethics procedures, data protection requirements, and institutional policies. Events and Outreach: Support Open Days, Applicant Days, and other departmental events, including laboratory demonstrations and activities showcasing psychological research.  HOW TO APPLYTo apply, please click on the 'Apply' button.
