through automated formative feedback. Supporting thousands of students and delivering feedback millions of times per year, the platform is now expanding beyond Imperial to the wider higher education sector. In this exciting role, you will help shape the user experience by designing and improving the user interface and experience (UI/UX). What you would be doing: You will: Implement UI designs, test with users, and deploy to production with continuous integration. Work collaboratively to define goals, milestones and deadlines, and deliver work to agreed timescales. Support software architecture decisions and proactively improve the code base and user experience, with a focus on reliability and maintainability. Contribute to future product development, including advising on resource requirements, and maintain clear technical documentation. Collaborate with teaching staff and other stakeholders to develop and expand the software in response to user needs. Support and train users, including onboarding, identifying use cases and providing ongoing guidance. Develop and implement innovative ideas based on feedback, while supporting others to develop their software engineering skills. What we are looking for: You will have: A degree-level qualification, or equivalent experience, in a mathematically based subject, including physical sciences or engineering. Experience developing modern web services, including modern JavaScript frameworks, preferably React.js, as well as automated and user testing. Experience designing systems that users want to use, with a focus on simplicity, reliability and elegant design. A strong knowledge of software engineering principles and practice, including proficiency in at least two programming languages. A strong aptitude for innovation and R&D, with excellent problem-solving, critical and creative thinking skills, and the ability to develop and evaluate new and experimental ideas. It would also be beneficial if you have experience or knowledge of: Gathering user stories and translating them into requirements. Agile methods, DevOps practices and emerging uses of AI. Automated testing, CI/CD, TypeScript and project management techniques. Working in higher education, a large organisation, or a small or start-up environment with broad responsibilities.
